STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

He’s touted as one of the hardest working DJs in the biz, having toured to a staggering 42 countries in a single year and at one stage doing as many as 20 gigs in one month. It’s no mean feat for someone who also happens to head up one of the house scene’s most notable underground record labels, all the while juggling his business and DJing interests with time spent locked away in the studio working on his forthcoming album debut (a new project with Funkagenda).

Knight’s Toolroom imprint has blazed a trail in the house scene, staying one step ahead of the game with releases that skirt tech, electro and progressive sounds. Toolroom has been so successful it’s spawned two sub-labels in the process – Toolroom Trax and Leaders Of The New Skool – and was nominated for ‘Best Breakthrough Label’ at the 2004 House Music Awards. They didn’t manage a win, however they returned in 2005 and took out ‘Label of the Year’ instead.

About to embark on his biggest tour of Australia to date as part of the Future Music Festival, ITM’s Tim Hardaker caught up with Mark recently to chew the fat.
