STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
His tunes are used like weapons by a growing amount of DJs around the world, be they be specializing in breaks, electro or tech house, and there’s little doubt that Sydney’s Hook N Sling AKA Anthony Maniscalco is one of Australia’s quickest rising DJ/producer stars. So much so that he’s caught the eye of the all powerful and successful Ministry of Sound: he was commissioned to mix one of the CDs in the just-released Clubbers Guide to 2008 compilation, and they’ll be releasing his new Plastic Wrap EP on their offshoot Hussle record label. That’s a pretty big stamp of faith in his abilities, if ever there was one!
With him hitting the road right around the country with his DJ/producer compatriot Sam La More to promote Clubbers Guide to 2008, and the new Plastic Wrap EP seeing him ever further stretching his wings into minimal and downbeat sounds, this year looks like it’s gonna be even bigger for Hook N Sling. With the tour well and truly in full swing, here he talks to ITM’s Angus Paterson about what he’s got in store.
