STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Having championed drum n’ bass for over 15 years, LTJ Bukem has lost none of his zeal. “I’ll never stop making music,” he promises unequivocally. The man has maintained relevance too, with his flagship label Good Looking Records committed to breaking new talent. As a result, Bukem’s DJ crate is always stocked with the freshest cuts from the soul-drenched, jazzy side of DnB.
When he’s not sorting MP3s into ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ piles, Bukem tours industriously alongside wing-man MC Conrad. His international adventures have fed into the Progression Sessions live mix-CD series – with the upcoming 11th instalment taken from the duo’s sunrise set at Serbia’s legendary Exit Festival. One destination they never neglect is Australia, and the enthusiasm remains reciprocal. Countless festival bills, among them Future Music Festival in 2007, have delivered their sole drum n’ bass fix via Bukem and Conrad. It’s not hard to see why, either, given the DJ’s flair for bringing the good vibes – clued-up crowd or not.
“I just love music,” Bukem enthuses. “I can’t tell you how much I love it.” There’s no doubting it, either. ITM’s Jack Tregoning hears from the man himself why the future’s still Good Looking.
