STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Since relocating to Sydney from the UK, the always-prolific Mark Pritchard has busied himself with a dizzying array of projects. His latest, which ITM got him on the phone to talk about, is a creative collaboration with Steve Spacek as The Books. While the name might change (another band beat them to it), the project looks set to blossom. Their focus is on live jams incorporating drummer Dizz1 and bassist Josh Wermut, with Pritchard on keyboards and FX while Spacek handles vocals and additional keys. Onstage, the quartet will draw on material from Spacek’s solo album SpaceShift but mainly create their compositions on-the-fly.
With four talented musicians multi-tasking across an arsenal of instruments, the results are sure to be exciting. The Books debuts in Adelaide this weekend, with more national dates to follow. Here ITM’s Jack Tregoning speaks to Mark Pritchard about the first chapter of ‘The Books’.
You can catch Mark Pritchard with his band this Saturday 8th March, Soco Cargo at the the Garden Of Unearthly Delights in Rundell Park, Adelaide.
If you’re in Sydney he’ll also be playing the following DJ sets throughout March before heading off on tour:
7 Mar – Void
9 Mar – Playground Weekender
15 Mar – Dub For La No Che Fundraiser
20 Mar – Oxford Arts Factory (w/ Pivot)
