STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
The smiling face of Carl Cox has become something of a welcome standard on the Australian festival circuit each summer, with the legendary British DJ, producer and all-round techno icon having famously based himself on the Mornington Peninsula outside Melbourne for a dose of much needed R&R. The annual three month break is Cox’s chance to unwind after a year of non-stop touring, and it’s also provided him with the opportunity to continue working on his forthcoming album.
Of course, no Carl Cox visit to Australia would be complete without a national tour, and throughout January and February he traveled the country as the headline DJ on the Big Day Out tour. Before he packs his bags and heads back to the northern hemisphere later this month – starting with the Winter Music Conference in Miami – Cox is squeezing in one last gig, playing the first ever Sidetracked event at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Well noted for his motorsport obsession, it’s no shock that Carl is looking forward to this weekend almost as much as the punters!
Carl Cox’s latest mix CD, ‘Ultimate Carl Cox’, is out now through Ministry of Sound/Universal. Check it out as it’s an exclusive double album that Carl put together for the Australian market only!
