STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
To say that the past year has been something of a surreal blur for The Aston Shuffle would be an understatement of rather epic proportions. Hailing from the nation’s capital, the duo of Vance Muscgrove and Mikah Freeman – after recently parted ways, amicably of course, with third member Ross McGrath – have gone from playing club show in their hometown, to spots at the biggest festivals in the country, including the Big Day Out, Good Vibrations, Future Music Festival and many more.
Not content with rocking festival stages, the boys have also maintained a steady stream of releases and remixes, adding their unique touch to Claude Von Stroke, Green Velvet, Pnau, Armand Van Helden and many more. Their debut track ‘For Everyone’ proved to be one of the biggest dancefloor hits of summer 07/08, with every local DJ worth their salt dropped it regularly as well as international talent like Axwell and Mason.
Proving there really is no rest for the wicked, as we head into winter The Aston Shuffle show no signs of slowing down, with Vance and Mikah now in the midst of a national launch tour for their super-fresh new mix CD. Ministry of Sound ‘Mashed 4’ sees them going head to head with UK electro wonderboy Kissy Sell Out. It’s their first official mix CD, and continues to strengthen their long-standing relationship with the Ministry/Hussle crew. ITM caught up with Mikah to talk shop recently.
‘Mashed 4’ is out now through Ministry of Sound/Universal. The boys continue their national launch tour over the coming weeks, so be sure to check them out!
