STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

In 2003, Scribe was catapulted from relative obscurity to an internationally recognised name, all thanks to a standout debut album The Crusader. Since then, he’s been a staple of the Australian festival circuit. That tradition is set to continue this month at We Love Sounds.

Scribe is the first to admit that his sophomore album Rhyme Book didn’t match the runaway success of its predecessor. Now he’s happy to take his time with album number three. The family man has been kicking back in his hometown Christchurch, writing music at a leisurely pace and reconnecting with his roots. Scribe has proven a galvanizing presence at festivals – the hip hop act that rock kids will come to see. That crossover appeal will again be an asset when the rapper takes the stage at both We Love Sounds and Splendour In The Grass. Here Scribe tells ITM’s Jack Tregoning why he’s happy to be setting his own rules.

Catch Scribe doing what he does best at two of the country’s biggest festivals.

Sunday 8 June – We Love Sounds Sydney, Hordern Pavilion and surrounds
Saturday 2 August – Splendour In The Grass, Belongil Fields, Byron Bay
