Welcome back to 5 Out Of The Box. For our January edition of 5 Out Of The Box, ITM was lucky enough to get DJ Dave Clarke to show us his top tunes, and he was more than happy to oblige! After making a stop and RhythmFM and the ITM forums, Dave gives us a sample of some of the tracks that he loves at the moment and which he’ll be playing around the country at his Big Day Out and God’s Kitchen gigs.
Dave Clarke is one of the techno worlds most respected and sought after DJs and composers. In his 13 years of writting and producing, he has created over 62 pieces of music; be it compilations, remixes or his own tracks.
After his very successful debut album back in 1996, ‘Archive 1’, Dave has been writing and producing music with some of the Worlds best DJ/Producers, having done remixes for Moby, Underworld, Leftfield and Laurent Garnier just to name just a few. Dave has also been producing a world-wide syndicated radio show called ‘Technology’ which he has currently had to put off due to his various gigs and wanting to go back into the studio to work on his most current album.
After a successful Australian tour last year, Dave returns to these shores for the Big Day Out festival touring nationally, as well as playing at various God’s Kitchen events around the country. Dave’s DJing is quite unique, and a style which he himself describes “as his very own”. Watching the guy mix in action is something every dance music fan or DJ should do at least once in their life, it just may change the way you think about mixing…
Dave found his passion for music at the tender age of eight years old when he started editing tapes into mixes. Growing up, Dave had very diverse music tastes and he still does. He first started listening to punk and disco and new wave, eventually moving into hip hop, electro and then techno.
Dave’s top tracks for this January 5 Out Of The Box are quite eclectic; some new, some old, some hard as f*#k, some quite bouncey and fun. Check em out!
