STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

Love them or hate them – and considering their single ‘Don’t Hold Back’ achieved platinum sales in Australia (that’s more than 70,000 copies sold!) we’d hazard a guess there’s more people falling into the ‘love’ category – no one can deny that the summer of 2007-2008 belonged entirely to The Potbelleez.

The duo-cum-foursome caused major shockwaves on radio, TV and in clubs Australia-wide thanks to the catchier-than-Ebola single, and now they’re back to prove they’re more than a one trick pony. They recently mixed Ministry of Sound’s ‘Sessions 5’ alongside Goodwill, and they’re currently in the midst of a 10-week nationwide tour. What’s more, they’re spending any spare waking moment outside the clubs in their studio, busily working on their anticipated debut album. It’s set to drop later this year, but for their eager fans they recently offered up its next single, ‘Are You With Me’. And, if early reactions to it are anything to go by it’s destined to scale similar heights to their last release.

ITM’s Tim Hardaker recently spoke with Dave Goode – one of the two Irish lads that make up The Potbelleez’s core nucleus – and got the lowdown on reality TV appearances, getting their music heard in the UK, and how they feel their recent commercial success has affected their credibility in the club scene.

Voting in the 2008 Sony inthemix50 opens on Monday June 30th. If The Potbelleez are your favourite DJs or producers be sure to show them love when you cast your vote! Head to www.inthemix.com.au/50 for more info.
