STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
In 2008 attempting to track down prized Aussie export Dirty South – aka Dragan Roganovic – is a bit like playing the game ‘Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?’ (have a look at this if it was before your time…) He’s been out and on the road throughout the US and Europe non-stop since his February tour of Australia, and it seems that the constant hard work is paying off in spades. Humongous, gigantic, colossal spades. The biggest you’ve ever seen.
With inthemix50 voting now underway – Dirty South taking out the #2 position on the DJ list and #1 producer last year – we were keen to get an update on what’s been going on for all his eager fans back home. When we spoke with Dragan our calculations had him being somewhere between Belgium and Ibiza. We weren’t entirely sure of the time difference, and in retrospect we probably should have… it turned out we phoned Dragan at 7am. Don’t feel too sorry for him, though, as he was kicking back in the villa he’s sharing with the Swedish House Mafia in Ibiza at 7am – having just got home from a night out. It’s a tough life for some!
If Dirty South is your favourite Australian DJ or producer make sure you vote for him in this year’s Sony inthemix50. Also check out the DJ Mixes page to hear part one and two of his recent Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1.
