STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEWS

There’s a good chance you may not have heard Peret Mako’s name before. But with all the pros this electronic producer and recent Future Classic recruit has been getting in response to his debut alum The Devil’s In The Detail, he’s definitely someone you should sit up and pay attention to. Take the good word of Sydney DJ veteran Simon Caldwell, for example. “The album is a treasure trove of intricate production and delicate melodies.” Or the praise lavished on it by DJ Goodwill. “Since I was first handed this album last year I have listened to it literally hundreds of times. IT IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. There are things going on in this album you won’t even find after your 100th listen.” Should we go on?

And while the hopeless dithering of his former record company meant the album was kept away from the ears of the public for an unhealthy amount of time, he’s found a happy home with the Future Classic crew. And as the hype suggests, it really is a textured and beautiful piece of work, featuring the sort of intricate electronic details that reveal themselves to you only after repeated listens. Part of this comes from Peret’s own history as a trained musician; studying jazz saxophone from an early age, he brings a deeper level of musical understanding to electronic productions.

And now Peret is ready to unveil The Devil’s In The Detail to the punters, in a live setting. ITM’s Angus Paterson talks to Mr Mako ahead of his upcoming live shows.

Peret Mako’s The Devil’s In The Detail is out now through Future Classic, check him out at the following gigs…

19th Jul – Future Classic Label Night @ Barsoma, Brisbane
26th Jul – Future Classic feat. Carles Webster @ Civic Underground, Sydney
