STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
No one could argue Hook N Sling didn’t start 2008 on a high. By the time Easter rolled around he’d already mixed a gold selling compilation for Ministry of Sound – this year’s ‘Clubbers Guide…’ with Sam La More – and also completed a grueling 3 month tour of the country to support its release. The Sydney-based producer, otherwise known as Anthony Maniscalco, has certainly wasted no time in returning to the fold. What’s that saying about resting on your laurels? What’s a laurel anyway…
Bursting onto the scene in 2006 with his irresistible remix of Sarah McLeod’s ‘He Doesn’t Love You’, Maniscalco has kept a steady flow of remixes and solo productions coming ever since, but none have been quite as anticipated as his latest. A cover of late 80s Aussie rock favourite ‘The Best Thing’ from long since forgotten band Boom Crash Opera, the track looks set to be Anthony’s biggest yet. Although on paper it sounds a little bizarre, once you’ve given it a listen it becomes obvious that the interest surrounding its release is justified. A certified club stormer if ever there was one!
In case you missed it the first time around… check out the recent episode of inthemix.tv to see Hook N Sling talking about his new single.
‘The Best Thing’ is out through Hussle/Universal. He launches it this weekend in Sydney at the Civic Underground. Check out ITM Whatson for more info.
