When it comes to the breakbeat sound down under they don’t get much bigger, bolder and brighter than Nick Thayer. A certified legend of the scene in Melbourne, he’s taken himself far beyond the confines of Victorian clubs establishing a reputation to be reckoned with across the country and around the world.
As a producer he’s had more than 30 tracks released, won a Breakspoll award and licensed his music to appear in top rating US crime show CSI. As a DJ he’s mixed two CDs (2006’s inthemix50 album and also one for UK label Passenger), supported everyone from the Plump DJs to the Cuban Brothers, and played internationally at legendary superclub Fabric.
He’s currently putting the finishing touches on his long anticipated debut album, and also playing a few gigs along the east coast in the coming weeks, so ITM thought it was high time we caught up for a chat.
