STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

When it comes to The Black Ghosts the phrase ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’ definitely rings true. After all, both members have already achieved quite a lot in their illustrious and illustrated music careers to date, so there was never any doubt that the collaboration would produce a smorgasbord of delectable aural treats.

First up there’s Simon Lord, whose inimitable vocal style should set alarm bells ringing as he was the frontman for now-defunct UK indie act Simian. You’ve heard him a million times over in the Justice remixed hit We Are Your Friends, and his former band mates went on to form Simian Mobile Disco.

Not to be outdone, we’ve also got Theo Keating, whose ridiculously long discography is enough to make your head spin. Throughout his career he’s produced as Touche and The Wiseguys, and if online gossip is to be believed, he’ll also be visiting Australia soon under the pseudonym Fake Blood.

The duo visited Australia in March as part of the Future Music Festival, winning over stacks of new fans before their debut album had even seen the light of day. Released on the Southern Fried label just recently, ITM’s Tim Hardaker tracked down Simon for a chinwag.

The Black Ghosts’ self-titled debut album is out now on Southern Fried/Liberator.
