Praise Jesus, Allah, Buddha, George Bush and whoever else tickles your fancy because after almost 10 years on the scene and four critically acclaimed albums, Australia’s finally about to get Ladytron’s shining, glittering, subversive take on electronic pop in all its live glory.
It’s been a long time coming for their Australian fans, as the band have built up a cult following after seminal albums 604, Lights & Magic and Witching Hour. Freed of major label constraints, the band recently released their latest opus, Velocifero, which was produced by Alessandro Cortini of Nine Inch Nails and Vicarious Bliss of the Ed Banger posse.
Initially breaking through in the first wave of the electroclash movement around the turn of the millennium, Ladytron have always stood out from the pack as their attraction remains a discerning approach to music and melody, rather than through performance art or bizarre fashion statements. ITM’s Tim Hardaker speaks with Mira Aroyo, one of the band’s two inimitable vocalists.
