STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

It’s been an absolutely mammoth year for the Midnight Juggernauts, who only recently returned from a 6 month odyssey across the globe to launch their debut album internationally. “It’s all a bit of a blur,” said Vincent, safe and sound in his Melbourne home recently. “It was kind of non-stop travelling. We lost track of time completely until now. We look at the calendar, it’s November, and we’re thinking, ‘what the hell happened?!’”

With so many shows under their belt it would come as no surprise that there were a few moments along the way where the boys had to take a step back and think to themselves, ‘what exactly is going on here?’ Vincent was only too happy to oblige with a story of their most memorably show of the year. “One gig which we did in Austria. We didnt have many details about it, but the promoters were so eager for it to happen,” he explains.

“They flew us from the other side of the world for this one show, and when we arrived the promoters were describing our entrance… They said; ‘there’s gonna be planes flying above you, these people will parachute onto the stadium, and then there’s gonna be these missiles which are let off in front of the stage. When they go off there’ll be all this smoke and you’ll be on a platform and we’ll push you forward through the smoke and flames, and then you start playing.’ we were just trying not to laugh.”

The Midnight Juggernauts will spend summer 2008/09 in the studio working on ideas for their new album, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Dystopia. Along the way they’re also taking time out play the Summer Break festival in Adelaide on December 28th, Pyramid Rock Festival at Phillip Island, Victoria on NYE along with a DJ set at Ozfest in Sydney on January 24th.
