STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
It’s no secret disco has been making a resurgence in the dance scene of late, its influence heard in a raft of new (or should that be ‘nouveau’) releases from producers on either side of the Atlantic. Well ahead of the bandwagon, however, you’ll find long-standing UK live act Crazy Penis, who’ve been pushing the disco influenced sound for a lot longer than most.
Speaking with the band’s frontwoman Danielle Moore ahead of their Australia tour, inthemix’s Richard Shute got an insight into why the sound has been such an important part of the Crazy Penis approach to date. “The whole disco movement has been influential [on us] in the past few years. All the people in the band were born in the 70s, so we heard the first movement of disco. It’s sort of ingrained in us!”
With an album of new material to showcase to Australian crowds, 2008’s Stop Space Return released on Ralph Lawson’s seminal 2020 Vision label, be sure to get your dose of heavy disco Crazy Penis style when they tour over the coming weeks.
