STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
What do Lady Sovereign, Mark Ronson, Sneaky Sound System, Bjork, Alphabeat, Estelle, Bonde Do Role, Santigold and Basement Jaxx all have in common? They’ve all had the good fortune of being remixed by Graeme Sinden – otherwise simply known as Sinden. With more remixes than you could poke a stick at (whatever that means), the UK based DJ, producer, record label owner, radio announcer and even promoter – his Get Familiar night at Fabric recently released its first compilation – is currently one of the most prominent figures in the business. Here he takes a little bit of time out to chat with ITM’s Melanie Mahony.
With a mentor like Dave Taylor (aka Switch) it’s no surprise that Sinden is scaling such great heights. When he teamed up with The Count of Monte Cristal (aka Joshua Harvey, Herve, Voodoo Chilli, Action Man, Dead Soul Brothers, Speaker Junk and Young Lovers) their track Beeper went straight to number one on dance charts all around the globe. Yep, Sinden is half the brains behind that song; “hit me on my beeper, beeper, beeper…” And, it’s with that song still ringing in his ears that the duo have been working hard putting together The Count & Sinden’s debut album, due for release… well, ages ago actually.
Sinden touches down in Australia this April, playing shows around the country with fellow man of the moment Fake Blood. If you’re a fan be sure to also check out his recent mix for FabricLive:
