STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

Last year Ministry of Sound released a curious little compilation that turned a few heads, inspiring a few heated conversations but also capturing the moment in terms of what was happening in the clubs. Progression chronicled the dawn of a new breed of progressive house, reinvigorated, more diverse and harder to define than ever. While the ever-present Deadmau5 very near have dominated the tracklisting on the first Progression release, Canada production whiz Adam K was another such name that showed up at least a couple of times over the course of the two discs. So it’s fitting that he was invited by the Ministry to help compile the second installment!

“In the last two years, house music has become extremely diverse and everything ahs just fused together,” Adam told ITM. “It’s no longer just tech house and minimal and progressive and all these different genres, it’s all kind of converged into one massive genre.” It’s a statement that pretty much sums up the ethos of Ministry of Sound’s Progression series of CDs.

Adam K will be in Australia this month, soaring off the back of an impressive portfolio of club hits like Twilight, You’re Not Alone and the smash remix of Need to Feel Loved, and he’ll be joined by Aussie DJ/producer fave Hook N Sling who handles duties on the other disc. ITM’s Angus Paterson speaks with Adam K ahead of the Progression 2 tour kicking off around the country.
