A high-ranker in last year’s Sony inthemix50 and someone who’s looking to perform equally well in this year’s poll, Queensland’s Raye Antonelli has got a little treat for his fans as the voting period continues. In The Club! is a brand new compilation series from Ministry of Sound, mixed by Raye along with Denzal Park, with an approach that is purely focused on upfront dance tracks.

“The whole concept is generated from the large amount of quality club music that is being released. With the digital revolution, so much more music is coming out so they thought it would be a good idea to build a compilation around the sounds that are dominating the clubs nationwide, hence the title,” he told ITM.

While Denzal Park’s mix focuses on what’s new in house, Raye’s on the other hand explores the more leftield electro and fidget selections that usually get an airing around 3am and onwards. “It’s a good representation of what you hear from me usually in the club on the weekends… These sort of compilations are built around the club and the club sound, which is all about running amok and partying, so the harder-edged music is a perfect match for that.”

As the inthemix50 voting period continues, ITM talks to Raye Antonelli about being ‘in the club’, the whirlwind that he’s been swept up in over the past 12 months, and how he’s expecting to rank in this year’s poll.
