STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Despite his career as simply Beni being relatively short so far, the man behind the mask, or in this case, the bandanna, Beni Single has been tearing up clubs for years. As a founding member of local larrikins the Bang Gang Deejays, Beni’s been an inspirational leader for the Australian club scene, and with his work in the now defunct Riot In Belgium, he showed off his skills as a floor-crushing studio tweaker.
Having moved onto greener pastures with his solo production work, Beni has already amassed some frighteningly impressive credentials like inking a record deal with French trail blazers Kitsune, remixing white-hot artists like La Roux, Digitalism and Tiga, and now getting his mixing fingers dirty with the latest compilation in Ministry Of Sound’s Mashed series.
Ahead of his run of dates in support of Mashed 5, ITM’s Dave Ruby Howe caught up with Beni in his home studio to shoot the breeze about his rise to prominence, working on his debut album with guests like Sam Sparro and Etienne de Crecy and where he thinks dance music is heading next.
Mashed 5, mixed by Beni & Miami Horror, is out on Ministry of Sound and Universal from 7th August, catch the pair on the road at the following shows…
