STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

Due to touch down in Australia as part of this year’s behemoth Parklife lineup, US rap duo The Cool Kids hold an interesting place on that musical landscape. Positioned as the sole hip-hop act amongst a sea of house, electro and indie-dance artists, The Cool Kids stick out like a sore thumb. Yet their inclusion on the lineup has been met with open arms from punters looking for diversity at the festival.

Indeed, the seemingly clashing environment that The Cool Kids’ Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks are set to inhabit hasn’t fazed the hip-hoppers. In fact, the pair seem to relish their cross-over appeal, throwing out celebrated jams to rap purists as well indie kids and club dwellers.

Ahead of their trek across the country, ITM’s Dave Ruby Howe caught up with The Cool Kids to get all the info on where their album is, what we can expect from their tour and why they hate big-wheeling rap culture.
