STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
When 2009 began, New York punk funk maestros The Rapture probably thought it’d be one of their quieter years spent writing songs and prepping a new album. Not so much. As it turns out, the band have been busy dealing with plenty of internal drama, with long time member and co-vocalist Mattie Safer splitting from the band earlier this year, while the reborn three-piece Rapture geared up for a one-off tour of Australia as a part of this year’s epic Parklife lineup.
With that in mind, ITM’s Dave Ruby Howe caught up with The Rapture’s charismatic keyboardist/saxophonist Gabriel Andruzzi to find out just how the band are dealing with this frantic turn of events.
Check out the interview to get all the information on the reasons behind Safer’s departure, how the rest of The Rapture have recovered from the split, and what’s next for the turbo-charged disco-punks.
