It only seems like yesterday when Israeli psytrance rockers Infected Mushroom released their last album Vicious Delicious, but they’ve been busy indeed – settling into their new home of Los Angeles, hooking up with dance music kingpin Paul Oakenfold and singing up to his Perfecto label, as well as building one of the world’s most state-of-the-art music studios to produce their new album. Legend Of The Black Shawarma is the fruit of all this effort, and if you’ve had a listen then you would have realised what a cutting-edge, polished piece of electronic music it is.
“We invest a lot of time in the small details, like crazy,” Infected Mushroom told ITM. “We’ve learnt the process of building studios, and this one we built ourselves, designed the acoustics and everything. We used to have tons of gear back in Israel, and left almost all of it over there. These days we just use the best of the equipment that fits us – the best reverb on the planet, the best converters… these tools help us make things faster, and more precise.”
Legend Of The Black Shawarma sees Infected Mushroom take their trance-metal fusion one step further, and if you want to catch them in a live setting then you’ll have your chance this New Year period when they return for the Summadayze tour. Here they talk to ITM’s Angus Paterson about their new album, working with Paul Oakenfold as what they’re planning to unleash upon us in the opening days of 2010.
