STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
Sneaky Sundays first emerged nearly 10 years ago as a simple idea with a simple philosophy: “good music for good people – all the time”. As the weekly club night that grew in popularity over the years, it became a place where strong musical relationships were forged. The brains behind Sneaky Sundays, Black Angus and MC Double D, went on to form Sneaky Sound System, who of course went onto worldwide success with their unmistakable brand of electro pop.
Despite winning ARIAs a plenty and collaborating with Tiesto, the group never forgot their roots, still returning to Sneaky Sundays whenever possible. Eventually the notorious Bang Gang crew (the collective talents of Dangerous Dan, Ajax, Beni, Gus da Hoodrat and Jaime Doom) also brought their brand of debauchery to the party, competing with an ever-growing posse of DJs fighting for the chance to play records that included big-name guests like Mylo, Tiga, Aeroplane, Hot Chip, KIM, Steve Aoki and LCD Soundsystem who all jumped on the decks at some stage.
In the spirit of Sneaky Sundays in the tradition of Sneaky Sundays, Black Angus and Dangerous Dan have teamed up to mix You Only Live Once, the first of a brand-new series out on Ministry of Sound. Here’s ITM’s Dave Ruby Howe talks to the Dangerous Dan about the legacy of Sneaky Sundays.
You Only Live Once, mixed by Black Angus and Dangerous Dan, is out now through Ministry of Sound and Universal. Catch Sneaky SOund System returning to the stage in January at the Hot Barbeque.
