Bang Gang [Audio]: Holding down the posse
Thu 17th Dec, 2009 Featuresin
Whilst the bulk of the Bang Gang crew remains at large across the globe – with club heavy Beni bouncing over to Paris with boutique imprint KItsune, Dangerous Dan and Double Nolan solidifying their Ksubi fashion empire, and Ajax just being a certified ‘dance legend’ (if you say so, ‘jax) – BG stalwarts Jaime Doom and Gus Da Hoodrat have stayed on home turf, setting up the prospering in-house imprint Bang Gang 12 Inches, the collective’s vinyl-only line that’s quickly become the crown jewel of the Bang Gang stable.
Them’s big words, but the duo of Doom and Hoodrat have backed it up, already launching the careers of local lights such as Muscles, Bag Raiders and Shazam on Bang Gang 12 Inches. A few years on and the team are pooling their archived material (plus a few extra treats) for their first compilation, appropriately titled A Radicool Compilation. ITM’s Dave Ruby Howe caught up with a travel weary Doom to talk about the radical collection, and also to get the low-down on travel tips from one of the scene’s more enduring DJs.
A Radicool Compilation is out now through Bang Gang 12 Inches and Modular, catch the boys performing over New Years:
