DJ/producer and head of the revered Buzzin Fly stable, Ben Watt has long since transcended his original status as part of the Everything But The Girl duo, going on to become one of underground dance music’s most loved figures in the UK. In the opening weeks of 2010, it’s business as usual for the Buzzin’ Fly crew and they’re putting out just as much beautiful music as ever – and these days, taking up most of Ben Watt’s time.

“I’ve never been the kind of guy who just goes to work in the studio everyday, and just gets creative. I have huge periods where I don’t even consider creative work, because I can’t think of anything I wanna say. I those periods I spend more time with the family, do more work for the label and DJ. And then every now and then you get an idea, you drop everything and go and try and capture that moment musically in some way. I’ve been doing this long enough to know those moments don’t come alon that often, and when they do you have to make time for them.”

The other big activity that takes up most of Ben Watt’s time is his DJing schedule. He’s beloved in Australian clubs for weaving together some of the warmest, most emotive and moving sets of underground house and techno you’d ever be likely to come across, and he’ll be back shortly for a whirlwind Australia Day tour.
