STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW
About to hit Australian for his second ever tour of our shores, Brazilian wunderkind Gui Boratto is a man who is undoubtedly in fine form at present. Riding high on the success of his sophomore album – Take My Breath Away, released in 2009 – he recently sent fans into a spin when it was revealed he’d be putting together his first ever mix CD. The fact he’d been courted by the universally respected Renaissance label was just the icing on the cake.
Compiling his Renaissance: The Mix Collection double disc journey, it’s interesting to note that it was pretty much the first time Boratto had used a set of Pioneer CDJs. Speaking with ITM, he goes into detail on the difference between studio production and the mix CD landscape, as well as giving some tantalizing insights into his live show setup – which sees him running a Jazz Mutant Lemur, UC-33 controller and Ableton, for those of you playing at home.
Gui Boratto makes a flying visit to Australia this February, don’t miss out:
Fri 19 Feb – Roxanne Parlour, Melbourne
Sat 20 Feb – Playground Weekender, NSW
Sun 21 Feb – Geisha, Perth
Sat 27 Feb – Chinese Laundry, Sydney (day party)
Sat 27 Feb – Bar Soma, Brisbane (night)
His Renaissance: The Mix Collection release is available now through Renaissance/Stomp. Get yourself a copy for guaranteed audio bliss!
