It should come as no surprise that 2011 is stacking up to be a momentous year for hardstyle duo Toneshifterz. The Sydney boys have relocated to The Netherlands to work on their album, which is in its final stages of production. In their own words, it’ll be “a mix of styles: some raw hardstyle, some harder stuff, some reverse bass and some more commercial tunes”.

On Saturday 21 May, Toneshifterz are coming home together with Bioweapon for a back-to-back set at Magic City. We hear all about what’s in store, and how the Sydney team is conquering The Netherlands.

What are your experiences so far of living in The Netherlands?
We have been here since end of March, and it’s been a real adventure so far. We are both out of our comfort zones and have travelled to many countries, which is a great experience. Before our move to The Netherlands we had experienced a bit of the culture already during our European tour the last time we were here. So to be back has been really great, it brings back lots of good memories to our first overseas tour.

We’ve played at some amazing parties, which have been such a good experience back-to-back with Bioweapon! So far we have been having a ball and doing what we love most.

We have heard you have moved in with Bioweapon. How is it living altogether?
Yeah we are all living together [laughs]. It’s been really good, they are our good friends and we enjoy living with them. We both have our studio at home, so sometimes it’s a bit crazy to work, but it’s just like hanging out with friends all the time.

Do you both have your own studios or do you share it?
At the moment we have one studio and work together in it. Its not set-up in the best position but it does the job. 25% of our album has been written there, so I think we have gotten some good use out of it. Eventually we want to have separate studios so that we can also work independently, bringing things together in the end.
