It’s only a few days until another installment of one of Sydney’s favourite parties, Transmission; this being the 13th edition in its 4 year history. Transmission Anthem Evolution, as this is so dubbed, is being held very close to the last Transmission, but has still managed to sell out as it’s popularity (and that of the Metro) is in no doubt.

I have to ask though, what the hell does Anthem Evolution mean anyway? Basically, it means that the best DJ’s in Sydney will play their favourite tunes ever – so this could be spread out over the last 10-15 years. But really, we don’t know, no one’s quite sure what the DJ’s will throw on the tables that night.

There are many more DJ’s featured in this edition of Transmission which hopefully means something fresh is going to be brought to the foray. Basically, there will be two rooms – the foyer and the main room, but there hasn’t been any latest Bedroom Bangers competition: Who will be playing the foyer? These DJ’s will be Leah vs Amber Savage, Sugar Ray vs Young Jase and Jonathon Wall vs Abel.

The last Transmission was missing those lovely video screens. One hopes that they will be back, and that there will be something new or innovative in store for us production wise as production is something Transmission is famous for. But basically, Transmission didn’t want to divulge any information regarding production on the night, but they did say, ”...just put it this way – I’m spending a lot more and I’m quite sure everyone’s going to enjoy it.” Let’s wait and see ;-)

Transmission parties always play the most current and energetic tracks, so I wonder why a musical trip back in time has been chosen. Transmission tells us that they wanted to say goodbye to the famed 2000 with an Anthem bash – and that there’s been a lot of talk about it on the street. Transmission say that they don’t think there’s been a good anthem event in a while and they wanted to give the people something different from the Transmission crew.

Manning was an unsuccessful venue. We’ve all come to realize that and now Trans is back at its rightful home, The Metro. But will it ever change venues again? They’re quite sure that Transmission will remain at the Metro for a while to come. The Transmission crew really do enjoy working there, the venue, the staff, everything about the Metro works for them, so 2001 will be massive.

Due to tickets selling out so fast, I, as well as many others wont be able to make it to Anthem Evolution, but there is something to tie me over until Transmission returns next year. Actually, Nervous just mixed it two weeks ago – it’s out on the Sony Dance label and there will be a 30 minute CD Rom to accompany the double CD with footage from some of the Transmission parties held – yes it’s the Transmission compilation CD and my appetite is now fully whet.

To everyone who was lucky enough to get a ticket, have a ball, and rip up the dance floor like nobody’s watching ;-). Expect a review from ITM.
