It’s been a year since you last visited Australia; what have you been up to?
I have been writing music in my studio constantly for the past year. I don’t put out anything I’m not 100% happy with and a lot of hard work has gone into these new recordings but finally I feel I’m in a position to release some very dope shit!

How did you first become involved with electronic music?
Heard electro and rap on pirate radio from day one, fell in love with it and wanted to be a part of it.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Inspiration for my dancefloor breaks comes from hearing so many crap break records … but on a more positive note, the crowds I DJ to restore my faith in the scene and that makes me want to remain a part of it.

It has been a while since we have seen any releases from you. What is the reason for this and when can we expect your new album?
Bolshi Records is reforming for 2001 so I will release some club tunes on that label. I have recorded eight tracks for my 2nd LP and in my experience a record with substance takes a great deal longer to make. You don’t see Prodigy, Leftfield or Underworld knockin’ out tunes every five minutes. However, I think 2001 is gonna be the year it comes out and there will be a release on Bolshi in March.

How would you describe the sound you are making now?
Blimey, I’ve enough problems making music that hopefully is different. I shall let all journos describe the sound for me but I think my new stuff is ‘sikkkk’!

Over the last couple of years big beat has been caned by the UK media. Is there still a healthy scene for that sound and are you still associated with it?
The breaks scene will grow because of dedicated DJs that push the sound but it may take time to fully realize its potential. I hope people like what I do ‘cause I want to make people see that there is more to life than house music.

Over the last couple of years breakbeat has become increasingly dark. What is your opinion on the UK breaks sound?
Dark breaks can be so boring but like with any genre of music there is good and bad. For me a breaks tune just has to roll and make me want to dance. Forget about all the clever drum programming and concentrate more on the actual tune. Plump DJs and the new Freestylers record are two of my faves at the mo’.

You have a large following in Australia. How do you like performing down here?
Um… when I come to play for NYE I will have been in Australia for my third time in one year. I think that means that I just can’t get enough of that buzz I feel when playing to an Australian crowd. It’s an amazing experience.

Future plans?
To rock the shit out of Perth on NYE!!!!!!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
