Robbie Lowe presents ‘Tech No’ THUG volume 1

What direction have you taken with the new demo – Tech No?

I’ve kept it quite relaxed at the start using some of my current warm up records, progressing to some of my more peaky tunes. It’s pretty much a wrap of my favorite tunes at the moment. Some of the tunes are really fresh and that’s the sort of direction I’ve tried to set.

What direction do you see yourself heading musically?

I think I’m sticking to what I love most at the moment and that’s the tech/progressive house movement. By using the word progressive, I’m describing music to what I think is futuristic or forward thinking. In saying this though, I like to think myself as being quite open minded when it comes to experimenting with different genres. There are so many talented producers pushing the boundaries, it makes DJ sets that much more interesting with the variety of sounds.

What do you think about the Sydney scene and where it seems to be headed at the moment?

I think we have a great scene here in Sydney. I’ve been fortunate enough to play in various parts of the world and I always get excited to come home and play. There are some really passionate promoter groups staging some fantastic events/parties and there’s never really a dull moment in Sydney. It’s hard to say were it’s heading but I’m sure it’s positive.

*You have been a top 50 ITM Australian DJ for the last 4 years, How do you you feel about your 39th place this year and the validity of the competition? *

I’m really stoked with the results, especially this year. It’s a really nice feeling to think that there are people out there that like what I do. I work hard and always try and put in 110% into my sets. It’s very rewarding.

What producers and DJ’s are doing it for you at the moment?

Producers – Anthony Collins, Adam Kroll, Spirit Catcher, Milton Jackson, Matt Rowan, Montero, Zombie Nation, Gui Boratto, Der Dritte Raum, Claud Vonstroke, Dave DK, DJ Delicious, Danny Freakazoid, Williams, Lee Coombs, Tomie Nevada, 16 Bit Lolita’s, DJ Fex, Marc Romboy and Underworld. (The list goes on…)

DJ’s – Jimmy Van M, James Zabiela, Sasha, John Digweed, Nic Fancuilli.

What are your goals over the next 12 months?

I want to get the production wheels turning and release my first tune! There is also talk of a CD release from one of our favorite promoters, which I may be involved in…. Other than that I really want to play around the country and take another Os trip soon.

What is your favorite gig at the moment

With out a doubt Sweetchilli. It’s like my home, I don’t have any restraints when I play and the crowd knows what I’m capable of. Promoters Daniel & Crispin, and of coarse my friends have been very supportive of me from the start, that I’m grateful of.
