DJ Obsidian has a passion for music and a discrete taste when it comes to what’s next on the decks. Playing a unique hybrid of crunchy breaks, tech-infused house and deep progressive, he combines the best elements of electronic music to bring you a truly unique performance that demands attention.

Delivering fresh and rhythmical sets, it wasn’t long before someone noticed DJ Obsidian entered the 2nd Annual Plastic DJ Comp held June through August 2003, and before it had even finished, was offered a guest spot at the legendary night!

Finishing as Runner Up (2nd out of 96 entrants) in the comp, he was soon offered a residency at the club, playing his unique style in both main and side rooms.

Since the competition he hasn’t rested, having played alongside local and international acts like 2ManyDJ’s, Luke Chable, Sean Quinn, Jono Fernandez, Pnau, James Murphy, Robbie Lowe, Matt Rowan, John Wall, Kid Kenobi, Klaus Heavyweight Hill, John Ferris, Mark Murphy and Switch Vs McGuyver to name a few.

DJ Obsidian founded the underground deciBel events in Sydney, seizing control of the Burdekin Hotel, Watershed Hotel and Moulin Rouge at various times for his own nefarious purposes much to the delight of the punters concerned!! Guests to the show included Jessica Joy (UK) and Paul Leath (USA).

Obsidian was also the co-founder of the highly successful and innovative club night Movement. Launched in August 2004 at the Phoenix Bar, then moving to the Chinese Laundry in late 2005, Movement built up quite a following indeed. With Melbourne DJ/Producer Jono Fernandez as resident, the night incorporated anything from breaks & tech to house & progressive. The club night, which was broadcast live over the Internet each month, was host to such events as Jono Fernandez and Luke Chable’s monster 5 hour back to back set!

During 2005, Obsidian ran the monthly Pulseradio Sideshow in the side room at Plastic with DJ Stalka, offering Pulseradio DJ’s and up’n’comers a chance to further push their music.

Obsidian has also performed on FM Radio, appearing live on FBi’s Morning Meltdown program with Scott Baker, and has had numerous guest spots on PulseRadio. So impressed were the crew, Obsidian was asked to host his own weekly Internet radio show on PulseRadio. You can catch the two hour Movement” show every Thursday at 8pm EST (9pm during Daylight Savings) on PulseRadio (www.pulseradio.net).

Definitely a busy man, Obsidian is one to watch out for!
