Pain Relief is the Sydney based DJing duo made up of Illya and Matt Roberts.

Matt started DJing 8 years ago playing hip-hop. You can still hear these roots incorporated into his funky sets these days with his original acapellas and loops. His style of music is fresh and edgy, mixing funky ass house with breaks and hip-hop influences. His sets always incorporate a lot of different techniques like scratching, beat juggling and sampling as well as that unmistakable sound of saxophones and big chunky basslines. Illya plays house music, hip hop and anything with a bit of soul… He loves to mix records more than anything, and is known for his energy and enthusiasm behind the decks and for playing quality house music!

Illya and Matt came together by accident about 3 years ago and have been DJing together ever since. They use 3 decks, 2 mixers and 3 CDJs, plus loops and acapellas, to construct their organised mayhem. They love house and will not play electro, so don’t ask! They play regularly around Sydney at Sounds On Sunday, Candy’s Apartment and The Cross.
