Mista Savona - reggae & dancehall DJ mix

Mista Savona creates a musically exuberant and authentically Caribbean backdrop for the extraordinary vocals of the legendary Big Youth (“The voice of downtown Kingston in the 70s, in his home country only Bob Marley rivalled him in popularity.” BBC Music); the charismatic and prolific Anthony B; award winning Determine; Melbourne artist Vida Sunshyne, whose credits include work with Nitin Sawhney and Lionel Richie; as well as many other vocal guests – almost entirely recorded in Jamaica.

Melbourne Meets Kingston is the first entirely dancehall and roots reggae release on Elefant Traks, building on from the hip hop/reggae crossover of Astronomy Class. Recorded in Australia and Jamaica, mixed at Sing Sing Studios and mastered at 301, the album does wonderful justice to the bass heavy riddums of Jamaican music. Manufactured in a beautiful presented digipack with a picturesque 24 page booklet, this is truly one of the most impressive releases to come out on Elefant Traks.

Mista Savona tours Australia throughout May and June with fellow Elefant Traks act Astronomy Class:
