Vlad started his DJ career in 1994, as a member of Lenny Dee’s Unit 4 line-up alongside Normski, SaraH B and Norris Windross. This led to him playing at various underground clubs in and around London (Vauxhall Arches, Ormonds, Plastic People, Grays Inn…), culminating in a residency at the now legendary Universe at the Complex. As an integral part of the first and biggest Internet radio station “InterFACE”, Vlad has been playing new skool breaks to a worldwide audience on the web 97-01. He has played across the UK with regular appearances for the Sonic Mook Experiment at the Scala, Happiness Stan’s at the Jazz Bistro, Leisure Lounge, Bar Rumba, The End and holding his own residency at the LED bar and the original Breakneck night at the Gardening Club and Bar Jerusalem. Throughout last few years Vlad was part of the Subphonic Vega Beach Party LP Tour following a string of gigs across UK coming all the way to last years Glade festival with “all star” Breaksday line up, and some of the hottest nights in London ( Chunk @ Rhythm Factory with Evil 9 and Freestylers, The Lab@333 with Future Funk Squad, Dirty Breaks session @Turnmills with Lisa Lashes, Aquasky, and Fergie) and made regular visits to European dance floors(Rome, Budapest, Zurich, Skopje-Macedonia, Belgrade, EXIT festival, Seville, Paris, to name a few)

Along side Pete Parsons and Tamsin Elliott as a part of Breakneck, Vlad has been an old member of Rennie Pilgrem’s premier UK Breaks label, TCR. Breakneck’s highly successful releases, Chapters 1, 2 and 3 EP’s, as well as Uplink and Chinese Burn have been amongst the most championed pieces of vinyl in the scene since 2000.Other releases include remix of Hyper v Tension ‘Drop Zone’ on Akademia records, ‘Atomic agent’ part of TCR 50 compilation album, contribution to Vinnie Medley memorial compilation on Botchit and Scarper, remix of DJ Nitro – ‘Trip to Hardcore’, and remix of a classic jungle tune ‘Champion Sound’.

Vlad’s other projects include act with Seed Records artist Ardisson, who is crossing over from Electronica where he has already made his mark. Their first single was the third release on Londonbreakz under the title of ‘Split Screen’ and has been caned and championed by the likes of BLIM, Chris Carter, Klaus of Two Sinners, Koma and Bones, Vigi and Zero, Vlad himself and of course most supported and championed by Mr Rennie Pilgrem personally who rated it 10/10 and consequently short listed it for his “Perfecto Breaks” on Paul Oeakies imprint.. With more than just encouraging reaction to their first outing, Vlad and Ardisson have already finished their next LondonBreakz instalment planed for late 05 releases, as well as single for Seed records named “Sid Sonar” released in January.

Vlad Sokolov has spent the past two years nurturing his eponymous Sokolov label. The massive ‘Good Tea’ / ‘Nice House’ single launched the label at the beginning of 2004 and instantly gained acclaim from all the scene main players. Diverted’s ‘Worm’ / ‘Ted’ single came next and much like its predecessor, received a caning at the hands of The Plump DJS, BLIM, SoulOf Man and Rennie Pilgrem amongst many others. The third release saw Vlad and Ardisson team up yet again with a brand new bass venture called “Vladivarious”. The story goes on, and what was going to be release number four, has come again into Big “Daddy” Rennie’s hands and made its way to TCR roster! The name of the number is “Tholid” made by Diverted and with Vlad’s remix on the flip, which has already rocked Fabric on regular basis, opened Glasto by JDS, and ended up on Radio 1 site stream twice! And further more, fift release was Addicted by Diverted and with Vlads remix on the flip hits the highest ratings yet again. Few further releases this year brought number of Sokolov releases to ten and to celebrate Vlad unleashed four tracker Sokolov EP and a mix compilation album “Perestroika”, to outstanding reaction of Press and Radio as well as DJ’s. With strongest support from all the TCR crew (Rennie pilgrem, JDS, BLIM, Chris Carter, Koma and Bones, Vigi, 2 Sinners etc… Breakneck’s and Vlad’s main supporters also include Laurent Garnier, Plump DJs, Freq Nasty, Future Funk Squad, Aquasky, Coldcut, Arthur Baker, Subfonic, DJ Scissorkicks, Plastic Raygun, 10Sui,Justin Rushmore of Finger Lickin records, DJ Hyper,Backdraft, Meat Katie and many more .
