Kamui have been causing chaos in the record box of many a DJ for the past few years with their ever diverse fusion of tech trance and hard trance. More shockingly however, is that the duo have only just left their teens and have a string of releases on labels and a multitude of experience many producers would have taken years to acquire. Consisting of Dominik Felsmann and Patrick Scheidt, the duo from Stuttgart (Germany) contacted each other through an internet music platform and met for the first time in the summer of 2003. They decided to produce together and an instant friendship was formed.
When they decided to combine their efforts and form a new alias as Kamui, their popularity exploded. This was due to the release of the debut song ‘Ghosts’. which came out on the prestigious Overdose label. Since then the two have released many of their own productions and remixes on labels like Overdose, Tracid Traxxx, Traffic Tunes, Straight On Black, Drizzly and Druck, as well as appeared on a massive amount of compilations.
Showing their diverse side, the two have created their own unique sound by fusing elements of almost every kind of dance music which has influenced them, but still retaining that hard edge. This unique and innovative style has seen many a DJ booking for the duo and in 2006 it was the year when they began worldwide tour as DJs in countries like Australia, Canada, UK and Germany.
Now to the present and 2007 has already began very well for the dynamic duo, kicking off with a superb fresh remix for ASYS’ track ‘Cheers’ on Tracid Traxxx (which ends the legacy of this timeless label!), and the future looks very promising! The new Kamui ‘Arena’ has already been hammered by Scot Project on this year’s Trance Energy and will include a massive ASYS remix. Also, further productions and remixes are in progress. The action doesn’t stop there as they have a huge selection of events to play at this summer including DANCE VALLEY festival, Australia, Sweden etc…
In a market which is growing ever stronger towards the electro-house style, the duo are not forgetting their roots, producing a harder sound, with the influences of modern music in their tracks, and with their unmistakable and unique sound, this is something worth waiting for!
