Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last year, or you’ve been too caught up in the exploits of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, you’ll know what we mean when we say the French have invaded! Following in the footsteps of compatriots Justice, Busy P, Sebastian and Kavinsky, Yuksek (aka Pierre-Alexandre Busson) will be bringing his amazing live show to Australia in July!
Drawing on his early old-school influences, Yuksek combines the rawness of hip-hop with the glitchy techniness of electro to create a fresh, yet unmistakably French sound that appeals to the mind and the feet. With less noise than Justice and more funk that Kavinsky, this frontrunner of nu wave French electro prides himself on coupling various styles of music with powerful, driving bass-lines that keep the audience engaged and the energy on point.
Yuksek’s true calling as an artist can be seen in his live shows. Discontent with looking like he’s reading his emails when performing, Yuksek suavely and seamlessly combines his obvious Ableton prowess with keyboards, microphones and vocoders – that’s right, the boy can sing! A true wiz when it comes to production, Yuksek is the man behind club-bangers Plastik, Dirty Little Trip, Composer and Sorry, all of which are regulars on compilation CDs and have been hammered by the likes of Erol Alkan, Busy P, Mylo and Freeform 5.
Our favourite Frenchman is also a well respected remixer, having lent his skills to Klanguage, Franz & Shape, Teenage Bad Girl and more recently, Sh’t Disco. So if losing control and shaking your booty to heavy beats and slick cuts is your thing, make sure you check out Yuksek live at:
Fri July 13 – Melboure, Room 680
Sat July 14 – Sydney, Metro Theatre
Fri July 20 – Perth, Ambar
Sat July 21 – Brisbane, Empire
