Of Spanish decent, Safari grew up in the south of Madrid, where he started DJing with his father doing party tapes (who didn’t at that time?), as his dad preferred to have a dance while the guest where at home and normally Safari will stay at his grandparents for his own good! Soon High School arrived and Safari started meeting promoters and dancers in some of Madrid’s most known clubs: Big Bang, Titanic (now Kapital), Coppelia and many more. The nights where long and the days too, as he discovered himself spending time with a good friend Agustin buying records like “This is the sound of C”, we are talking 1991, and on the turntables when the house was empty, there were some belt-driven turntables that got transformed into pitched-controlled ones. Playing was not in the agenda at that stage, so Safari went into promoting and running clubs: Attika, Ωmen… harder sounds, the techno era was starting and the inflexion point came one night, at Circulo de Bellas Artes, it was a Static Sound System party featuring some of the best Detroit techno DJs. In December 1999 and after a few months in London, Safari moved to Australia, Melbourne. A wrong relationship stopped him to pursue that dream of making people move, but soon things changed. After a period of uncertainty in Melbourne, Safari met Jimmi Electrix, who made him play every night for over four months in a dream studio in the CBD. Soon the gigs started to come and with no expectations his musical life started to be linked to Honkytonks, where he used to promote for over 2 years; there he found the place to move people playing what he likes. Soon other venues and parties started to roster him and with no time he was warming-up or closing down sets for international the likes of Radio Slave, Stacey Pullen and Rober Babicz (aka Rob Acid).
