Playing his own brand of house ranging from deep shuffles to bumpin’ tech; Luke is known for pushing and pulling his audience with dubs and vocals with a funk thread throughout. For Bowditch, studio production began in 1997 with the purchase of his first sampler – an Akai S-2000. From there, he has gone on to produce mixes for releases from Inaya Day, Neurotic Jock, Cam Farrar, Groovehunter and Jan Driver. He’s appeared on Melbourne labels Vinyl Pusher and Vicious Vinyl, as well as Eric Morillo’s Sondos imprint (US). In 2006, Luke started his own record label – Drum Ride Recordings, with two 12”/digital releases to date. He has also scored music for various media applications; including television. Currently Luke is engaged in a new media project – ‘Australian Sound Forge’ with Sean Quinn and Scott Griffiths, producing sound for video games.
The investment of time standing behind decks and sitting behind mixing consoles has left him with a penchant for dark rooms and fresh beats. Alongside his buddy Frisky, Luke presents a weekly radio show focussing on electronic house – The Drum Ride on Kiss FM (www.kissfm.com.au); and for the last two years has been running a successful weekly (Sat) underground party: Snap. Crackle. @ Candy Bar in Prahran. In addition to this he also holds residencies @ Tramp, The Market, and Wah Wah Lounge (where he acts as Music Director). He’s played alongside international acts such as Deep Dish, Metro Area, Ian Pooley, Mark Farina, Felix Da Housecat, Kenny Dope, Chris Lum, Switch, Joey Negro, Joe T Vanelli and DJ Garth, and shared bills with a list of DJs that reads like a who’s who of the global scene.
