One of Finger Lickin’ Records’ favourite artists is finally dropping their debut album. It’s about time! After selling over 15,000 vinyl copies of their singles since 2002, the duo of Robin 12Tree and Jason Laidback – better known as Slyde – finally release their debut artist album. The cheekily titled ‘Everyone’s Entitled To Our Opinion’ is one of the freshest takes on breakbeat yet, with elements of punk (especially on ‘Looks Better’), hip hop, dub and rave. Not the mention the instantly recognisable cover of the Ian Dury & The Blockheads classic ‘Sex & Drugs’.
The guys have a healthy pedigree in music with Robin playing in indie bands, getting to signed to Regal and Tummy Touch and remixing the likes of Moloko and even Shirley Bassey! Jason started as a scratch DJ, did UK remixes of massive hip hop tracks like Naughty By Nature’s ‘O.P.P.’ and De La Soul’s ‘3 Is The Magic Number’, then had a massive UK hit with ‘Juicy Red Apple’ and released two beloved albums on the pioneering Bolshi label. Slyde have always had the funkiest, hip hop edge of all FLR’s artists. Expect this album to appeal to anyone that appreciates ‘The Funk’... in all it’s forms!
