A BIOGRAPHICAL INTERVIEW WITH RONNIE GORDON – HOSTED BY ROSS MCGRATH
Ross McGrath: I thought I’d get the this out of the way first up, you left the group you were with – The Aston Shuffle
Ronnie Gordon: Yeah sun, that’s right
Ross McGrath: Care to elaborate?
Ronnie Gordon: Not really but, hey you seem like a good guy. Basically the boys had wandering hands in the studio. I told my girlfriend about it when I was drunk and she has barred all contact with them.
Ross McGrath: Fair enough. A lot of people wouldnt know this but you’ve been in this game for around eight years now, how did u get into all this?
Ronnie Gordon: I’d have to have thank the Canberra big boys for that u know. Playas like DJ Kaos, Anjay, Ryan Papa all introduced me to the game. I started wiv production after i heard some of the old GU & Renaissance Mix CDs that my basketball coach at the time gave me. Mikah has always been representing and pushing me as well, I figure if I want to learn, learn from the best. Ever since then, I been bangin’ shit out. Also, shout outs to Daz no one knows how to pirate like that man.
Ross McGrath: Seems like you got an early start, but production was the main focus?
Ronnie Gordon: Yeah definitely, I been lucky to snag a few connections and have managed to get a few releases under my belt. Got the Coney Island EP with Vance Musgrove as Musgrove & McGrath on [eq] Grey, Phil K (Australia’s best!) helped get that one on to Anthony Pappa’s Balance Mix CD and it hit number one on a few charts over in the states. I got da Tangleray project with Mikah that had 3 or 4 remix releases, getting plays from Sasha, Zabiela and all those gangstas. Then I got my original-ish out on The Aston Shuffle Recordings. Probably bout 8 or 9 of those. Although I’m not sure if any of them are even still available (or should be). I should look into that…
