Simian Mobile Disco dive headlong into the task of mixing the next installment of FabricLive! As producers they are very much in demand having remixed the likes of The Presets, Bjork, Ladytron and Air, now it’s time for you to hear their equally in demand skills, as DJs who jet all over the world!
Simian Mobile Disco is English electronic music production duo James Ford and James Anthony Shaw, who formed as a splinter group in 2005 after their band Simian (with Simon William Lord and Alex MacNaghten) broke up. SMD have so far released ‘Attack Delay Sustain Release’ (‘07), ‘Simian Mobile Disco EP’ (‘07), ‘Clock EP’ (‘08) and also four mixed compilations, ‘Mobile Disco 2003’ (‘03), ‘Bugged Out! Presents: Suck My Deck’ (‘07), ‘Go Commando’ (‘07) and ‘I’m A Cliche/The Tokyo Tapes’ (‘08).
SMD perform prolifically around the globe both live and as DJs. James Ford produced the second album by acclaimed British indie band Arctic Monkeys, ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ (‘07) which was nominated for a Mercury Prize (2007) and won the Brit Award for Best British Album (2008). “We dug through a lot of stuff that’s not very current. With a lot of mix CDs, you do them and you know it’s just going to go out and do its thing, but we always think a fabric mix is something that sticks around a lot longer.” SMD
