Cologne-based Acid Techno pioneer and innovative minimalist Techno and House producer, Robert Babicz (aka Rob Acid) is a figure of unmeasurable influential impact on the German electronic music scene right from the beginning. He’s released five albums and singles on labels like Systematic, Kompakt, Audiomatique, Bpitch Control, Barbarella, Treibstoff and Out Of Orbit.
From his Acid House rave anthems, to the sparse and minimalist Ambient electronica he produced in the late nineties, it wasn’t until 2004 that we saw the rebirth of Robert Babicz. Over the next few years releases of truly infectious quality, such as ‘Battlestar’, ‘Look’, ‘Mister Head’, ‘Weekend’, ‘Prism’, ‘My Blue Car’ and ‘Markateck’ stormed across the world and high-profile DJs from multiple genres praised, played and embraced his new sound. In 2007 Robert released his latest album ‘A Cheerful Temper’ on Systematic Recordings. Moving between the genres of Electronica, Techno, Minimal and classic House, ‘A Cheerful Temper’ is indeed a very special and genre-breaking album full of beautiful electronic club music.
Babicz does not play as a DJ but as a real live act. All of his shows are distinctive and individual as he never performs the same songs and sounds. Don’t miss his hugely anticipated return to Australia:
