Individually, as writers, artists, DJs and producers they are impressive. But, back together again on their brand new album, ‘Two’ – they are unrivalled. It’s been far too long since the release of their era-defining classic ‘1st Album’... Wait no more music lovers for they are back with a bang. And you’d better believe it – it’s a big, cosmic “bang”.
Miss Kittin and The Hacker met in Grenoble during the early 90s at a rave. As for many people of their generation, techno is a musical and cultural slap in the face. The two friends both bought decks and each became DJ’s. As they started to work together on productions they dived into naïve, free and easy electro-pop. Their arrangements are to-the-point, spontaneous, dynamic, and mainly generated on basic equipment. Their techno has a song-like format – based on the verse-chorus pop schema, heavily influenced by the 80s.
Signed to DJ Hell’s International DJ Gigolo label, ‘1st Album’ was a genre defining breakthrough into the mainstream of music around the globe – the singles like “Frank Sinatra” and “1982” barely leave DJ’s boxes to this day. Combine this with Kittin’s work with Felix The Housecat’s “Silver Screen Shower Scene” and you have artists of supreme cultural relevance. Back together again for ‘Two’ on Kittin’s own label, Nobody’s Bizzness, get ready for the return of the electro pop gods!
