Myles Mac is a relative newcomer to the Melbourne DJ circuit, having only started his club career in 2006 playing at a handful of house nights before finding himself with a residency at the Bourke Street club Korova Milkbar in early 2007. A residency which spanned more than a year and ended with him co-running the well known night ‘Audiophile’ enabled Myles to make a name for himself, booking and playing alongside Australia’s techno and progressive elite such as Christian Vance, Luke Chable and Jamie Stevens from Infusion. Myles didnt pass up the opportunities that were then to come thick and fast, being picked up by Melbourne’s largest techno event brand ‘The Likes Of You’ which allowed him to support some of his most revered idols such as Carl Craig, Luciano, Richie Hawtin, Radio Slave, Loco Dice, Hernan Cattaneo and Minilogue to name but a few.
With the conclusion of ‘Audiophile’, Myles was presented with the opportunity to gain residency at Pretty Simple @ Ffour. He continues to support international artists such as Jona, Deetron, Paul Ritch and Ekkohaus as well as Australia’s most sought after deep house and tech artists. In an already exciting year, 2008 saw Myles land himself residencies with underground techno brand Soma Corp as well as reaching a wider audience through his Thursday weekly spot at Q Bar and Friday residency with the Late Shift at OneSixOne. Myles also hosts a weekly radio show on Kiss FM, plays guest spots with Darkbeat and Melbourne Techno Collective as well as being regularly billed at festivals such as Future Music and Summadayze.
Myles Mac’s sound is house driven with constantly evolving elements of techno, deep house and electronica making him one of Melbourne’s most versatile young DJs. Making a continual effort to stay ahead of the ever growing contingent of up and coming DJs, Myles is heavily influenced by artists at the forefront of electronic music. His overall sound is vastly diverse and imaginative, always keeping his dancefloor guessing and never conforming to one genre or being restricted by the expected norm. Whether it’s a downtempo lounge set, a latino influenced percussive house set or a late night underground techno set, he is never complacent, always striving for new approaches or re-inventing the once forgotten. With his energy now equally focused on production, and his own monthly podcast with partner in crime Andy Hart, Myles is an exciting talent, well on the way to establishing himself as a leader in the Australian electronic music scene.
