For more than 15 years, Robbie Lowe has been earning his place as one of Sydney’s finest DJs. His reputation as a warm-up specialist is well-documented, but this weekend at the Civic Underground Robbie is the undisputed star of the show. Over five-plus hours, he’ll show just how deep his love of house and techno runs.
“It allows me to relax, build my set and really capture my audience,” the man tells inthemix. “It also allows me to dig deeper into my music and play more varied sounds. I can’t wait for this night!”
As a special feature, we asked Robbie to talk us through the eight tracks on his retrospective mix. Read while you listen, people.
RETROSPECTIVE MIX – TRACK-BY-TRACK
Tigerskin – Snow Warmth
”When I first got my hands on this I knew straight away I would never get sick of it. This really grows on you over time.”
BGB – A Crack In The Glass
”This track has a classic house feel and sounds a lot older than it is. I love this quirky type of stuff.”
Swag – Drill Bit (Jimpster Remix)
”I’m a big fan of Swag and The Jimpster remix of Drill Bit hit the spot for me.”
Inxec – Exit Left
”Inxec is a more current producer that is making waves with deep house to techno. I have a feeling I’ll be playing his tunes for a while!”
Boghosian – Balaka
”This is a track I’ve really caned this year. It has a timeless feel.”
Rocket – People (Jeno’s Stormy Weather Mix)
”One of my favorite records from the last decade and still goes-off when I play it now. It’s turning out to be a Spice anthem.”
Calibre – Nightlight
“Known for D&B, Calibre also makes some great slower house tracks like this. Great for those lazy Sundays in the sun.”
UNKLE – Reign (Morgan Geist Remix)
”I love this moody, wobbly remix. Its very unique sounding and just one example of Morgan Geist’s brilliance.”
