This 27 November, Australia will receive the best of Brazil’s night-life culture thanks to The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project. Our guides for the night are none other than livewire four-piece Bonde do Role.
Discovered on MySpace in 2006 by tastemasker and globe-trotting DJ Diplo and aligned with his Mad Decent imprint, the group quickly became the subject of a bidding war and signed with English indie-powerhouse Domino Records.
After spending much of 2009 and 2010 working on two albums simultaneously – the second Bonde do Role album and also a more traditional samba album – the group is poised for a big comeback in 2011. Their sophomore album, produced once again by Diplo, will be released in April on Domino and Mad Decent.
To help celebrate Brazil’s buzzing nightlife, Bonde do Role’s resident DJ Gorky has put together this mix for inthemix featuring ‘a selection of the finest’ sounds from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and beyond!
