Don’t ask about Drop Out Orchestra. They ain’t telling. Instead of taking the usual route to blogosphere domination with a slew of social media profiles broadcasting their every thought and photo shoot, the Swedish minds behind the Drop Out Orchestra project prefer to maintain an air of mysteriousness and anonymity. We hear a lot of shit about artists letting the music speak for itself but these guys actually make sure it does.

And it works. The shroud of the unknown that comes with Drop Out Orchestra means you’ll never know exactly when the shadowy collective will drop a new tune or their latest edit of an old school jam. You just have to dig back to them and hopefully be surprised when there’s something new there for you to sink your teeth/ears into.

And that brings us to the group’s rather prolific output. Whether it’s as the DOO proper or as their other incarnation the Drop Out City Rockers, the Swedes are seemingly forever at work in their studio, tinkering on the next remix or update of a cheeky old gem that needs a fresh coat of paint.

Knowing just how busy they keep themselves, we at inthemix weren’t all that confident that Drop Out Orchestra would have the time to do an exclusive mix just for us. But loving them as we do we had to ask anyway and, lucky us, they were up for the challenge, hitting us back swiftly with the mix you’re hopefully already tucking into.

Inside you’ll find a heap of delicious disco treats from the DOO team including fresh mixes, some favourite cuts, a barely-believable Craig David edit and some tastings of their upcoming releases including Out To Lunch, the ‘Orchestra’s Sex Pistols revision which just shipped last week.
