The Potbelleez DJz – ITM ‘Club Classics’ Mix
Wed 22nd Jun, 2011 in ITM-FM 978 views
With easy appeal for days it was always just a matter of time before fame caught up to The Potbelleez. Now starting a new chapter in their career as a band with a second bombastic album of electro-pop in Destination Now, we thought we’d go in the opposite direction and journey back in time with The Potbelleez for a dance music nostalgia trip. The lads behind the Potbelleez sound and their club music roots, Johnny Sonic and Dave Good, kindly dusted off the decks to prepare an exclusive mix just for ITM charting some of their favourite clubbing memories – it’s their Top 10 Club Classics mix and you can check out why they chose each track below.
The Potbelleez DJz – ITM ‘Club Classics’ Mix
M.A.R.R.S – PUMP UP THE VOLUME
This is a song and the only single by British recording act MARRS. It was a number-one hit in many countries and is generally regarded as a significant milestone in the development of house music and sampling.
SUNSCREEM – PERFECT MOTION (BOYS OWN MIX)
Classic house track, first featured on the Sasha and Digweed series, big plays from us.
LIL LOUIS – FRENCH KISS
From the US, early Detroit style, it was a massive rave record in the early ‘90s, gotta love the orgasm and the BBM slowing right down and back up to really get everybody losing it.
GREEN VELVET – FLASH (ORIGINAL)
Early 90’s Chicago house at tits finest!
LAURENT GARNIER – CRISPY BACON
This French guy has been fundamental in forging dance music, released in ‘97, its one of his best and one of our faves.
JOSH WINK – HIGHER STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS
I think everybody remembers this acid track, at the time it blew us away and was a sure fire hit every time we played it.
THE PRODIGY – OUT OF SPACE
We love The Prodigy, when we played with them in Korea last year, this tune still rocked the way it did back when we seen them in 94.
RONI SIZE – BROWN PAPER BAG
This guy is a history of drum and bass, he really took the sound and made his own unique style, this is a cracker.
DAFT PUNK – DA FUNK
When they burst on the scene this track really took people by surprise, I remember a DJ dropping this and I was ’ what the hell is this?’
EURYTHMICS – SWEET DREAMS
Absolute classic, and a dream to boogie to; it’s been a main stay in DJ box’s across the globe for the last two decades.
